We are seeking a highly organized, careful, and physically active Material Handler to join our publishing and media distribution logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe movement, sorting, heavy-volume kitting, and dispatch of delicate physical media assets, including books, high-end magazines, vinyl records, printed merchandise, and promotional campaign kits. You will balance physical stamina with digital precision, utilizing automated sorting lines, pallet jacks, and inventory tracking software to process fragile printed materials without damage. Key Responsibilities
Fragile Media Receiving & Unloading: Unload incoming pallets of printed media, books, or raw paper stock from freight trucks, carefully inspecting shipments for moisture damage, warped spines, or print defects.

Systematic Inventory Put-Away: Transport and stage finished publication batches or media assets into designated climate-controlled storage bays, utilizing strict SKU systems and FIFO (First In, First Out) rules to prevent product degradation.

Order Picking & Batch Consolidation: Read automated picking sheets and digital manifests to pull books, magazines, or media kits from warehouse shelves, grouping them accurately for specific retail distributors, bookstores, or subscribers.

Kitting & Media Kit Assembly: Collate and bundle multi-component media packages, subscription boxes, or educational kits, ensuring all inserts, promotional flyers, and physical items are arranged precisely according to client layouts.

Secure Packing & Binding Support: Operate binding machines, industrial shrink-wrappers, strapping tools, and box sealers to secure print pallets and cartons, preventing shift damage or moisture exposure during transit.

Barcode Scanning & WMS Data Entry: Operate handheld RF scanners to update Inventory Management Systems in real time, logging product locations, processing internal inventory transfers, and tracking shipped manifests.

Distribution Zone Safety & Upkeep: Maintain a spotlessly clean, dust-free warehouse floor to protect open paper assets; recycle paper waste, break down pallets, and ensure all walkways and fire lanes remain unblocked.

Requirements & Qualifications
Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience; basic training in supply chain logistics, print shop operations, or warehouse safety is highly preferred.

Experience: 1–2+ years of experience as a material handler, stock handler, or fulfillment associate within the publishing, print production, media distribution, or e-commerce industries.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in operating manual and electric pallet jacks, hand trucks, digital weight scales, and industrial shrink-wrapping machinery.

Experience using handheld barcode scanners, RF terminals, and basic Warehouse Management Software (WMS).

Deep understanding of quality control guidelines for printed matter and paper products, including handling guidelines regarding humidity and pressure.

Personal Attributes:

Excellent physical health and core strength; capable of standing for 8–10+ hour shifts and repeatedly lifting publication bundles weighing up to 40–50 lbs.

Sharp attention to detail, with an innate ability to spot minor printing anomalies, misaligned barcodes, or damaged packaging instantly.

Highly reliable, disciplined, and punctual, with a strong internal drive to hit tight distribution schedules linked to major publication launch windows.

Excellent situational awareness to move safely around operating conveyor belts, automated packaging lines, and narrow storage aisles.
