We are seeking a meticulous, client-focused, and highly organized Loan Interviewer and Clerk to facilitate the loan application process and ensure the integrity of our lending documentation. In this role, you will be the primary link between loan applicants and our underwriting team, responsible for gathering financial information, verifying applicant details, and preparing comprehensive loan files. If you possess a sharp eye for detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to regulatory compliance, this is an outstanding opportunity to support our lending operations and help our clients achieve their financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
Loan Interviewing: Conduct initial interviews with loan applicants to collect necessary personal and financial information, explaining the loan application process and requirements clearly.
Documentation Verification: Carefully verify the accuracy and completeness of submitted documents, including income statements, credit reports, bank statements, and tax records.
File Preparation: Compile and organize loan application files, ensuring all required disclosures and forms are present and properly signed before submission to the underwriting department.
Data Entry & Processing: Accurately input applicant data into our loan origination systems (LOS), maintaining precise records throughout the lifecycle of the loan.
Communication Liaison: Serve as a consistent point of contact for applicants, providing status updates, answering procedural questions, and requesting additional information when needed.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to lending laws, fair housing regulations, and internal security policies throughout the application process.
Problem Resolution: Identify missing information or inconsistencies in application data early in the process, proactively working with applicants to resolve issues and avoid delays.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: 2–4+ years of experience in loan processing, mortgage servicing, banking, or a high-volume financial document role.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Loan Origination Systems (LOS), CRM software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong aptitude for reading and interpreting financial statements, credit reports, and tax documents.
High proficiency in accurate data entry and document management.
