Job Overview
We are seeking a versatile and industry-aligned Lecturer for the Department of Information Systems to join our academic team. In this role, you will be the bridge between business strategy and technological implementation. Your objective is to educate students on how to design, manage, and leverage information systems to solve complex business problems, enhance operational efficiency, and drive digital transformation within organizations.
Job Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Teach core modules such as Systems Analysis and Design, Database Management Systems, IT Project Management, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Information Security Management.
Curriculum Development: Continuously update course content to reflect the digital era, incorporating topics like Cloud Computing, Business Process Automation, Data Governance, and the integration of AI in business workflows.
Hands-on Lab Facilitation: Manage practical sessions that focus on enterprise software usage, database querying (SQL), and the use of Business Intelligence (BI) tools to support decision-making.
Research & Scholarship: Engage in scholarly activities related to the adoption of technology in business, IT/Business alignment, or socio-technical systems, and publish findings in respected academic journals.
Mentorship & Advising: Provide academic guidance to undergraduate and graduate students, focusing on career readiness in roles such as Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, or IT Consultant.
Project Oversight: Mentor students on capstone projects that require the design and implementation of information systems solutions for simulated or real-world business scenarios.
Departmental Collaboration: Contribute to curriculum reviews, accreditation processes, and departmental initiatives that strengthen the connection between the university and the tech/business industry.
Job Requirements
Education: Master’s degree in Information Systems, Business Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field (a PhD is strongly preferred).
Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in business IT, systems analysis, or IT management, combined with experience in lecturing or professional training.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in enterprise-level database systems and SQL.
Familiarity with enterprise architectures (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, or Oracle platforms).
Strong grasp of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile/Scrum, and IT project management methodologies.
Soft Skills:
Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex technical architectures into business value propositions.
Systems Thinking: Ability to view organizations as complex, interconnected systems and teach this holistic perspective.
