Job Overview
We are seeking an innovative and industry-aware Lecturer in E-commerce to join our faculty. As digital retail continues to reshape global trade, your role is to equip students with a holistic understanding of the e-commerce ecosystem—from the technical infrastructure of online storefronts to the strategic intricacies of digital marketing, supply chain logistics, and customer experience. You will prepare graduates to thrive in a landscape where retail is borderless, data-driven, and continuously evolving.
Job Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Lead courses such as E-commerce Fundamentals, Digital Marketing & Analytics, Omni-channel Retailing, Supply Chain & Logistics, E-commerce Law & Ethics, and Marketplace Strategy.
Curriculum Innovation: Develop a curriculum that integrates modern trends, including social commerce (e.g., TikTok/Instagram Shop), B2B marketplaces, cross-border trade, and the use of AI/Big Data in retail personalization.
Applied Lab Facilitation: Manage "Digital storefront labs" where students gain hands-on experience setting up, managing, and scaling e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento) and using analytics tools (Google Analytics, Hotjar).
Research & Scholarship: Engage in research on consumer behavior in digital environments, the impact of mobile-first retail, platform competition, or the future of sustainable e-commerce.
Industry & Career Mentorship: Connect students with industry leaders in e-commerce, digital agencies, and logistics firms. Facilitate real-world projects such as launching a product campaign or optimizing an online sales funnel.
Capstone Oversight: Guide capstone projects that require students to build a comprehensive e-commerce business plan—from platform selection and inventory management to digital marketing strategy and post-purchase customer service.
Departmental Collaboration: Contribute to faculty committees, program accreditation, and departmental initiatives focused on staying at the forefront of digital business education.
Job Requirements
Education: Master’s degree in E-commerce, Digital Marketing, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field (a PhD is strongly preferred).
Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in e-commerce management, digital retail strategy, online marketing, or supply chain optimization, combined with prior teaching experience.
Technical Skills:
Practical proficiency with E-commerce platforms (Shopify, BigCommerce, or enterprise-grade systems).
Working knowledge of SEO/SEM, email marketing, and conversion rate optimization (CRO).
Familiarity with the technical side of e-commerce, such as payment gateway integration, cybersecurity basics, and API-driven commerce.
Soft Skills:
Commercial Mindset: Ability to teach students how to think like entrepreneurs, focusing on metrics like Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) and Lifetime Value (LTV).
Systems Thinking: Ability to demonstrate how different components of an online business—logistics, marketing, and tech—must integrate to create value.
Agility: A proactive desire to keep pace with the hyper-fast evolution of digital trends and platform algorithms.
Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex digital data into clear, actionable business strategies.
