Check with seller Lecturer, Non-Traditional Security Management
- Location: Hai Phong City, vietnam
Job Overview
We are seeking a forward-thinking Lecturer in Non-Traditional Security Management to join our faculty. As the global threat landscape shifts away from purely conventional/military models toward complex, multi-dimensional challenges, our department is leading the way in academic inquiry. You will be responsible for educating students on the management of "new" security threats—such as cyber-warfare, climate-induced instability, supply chain vulnerabilities, misinformation, and the security implications of globalized financial interdependencies—preparing them for leadership in a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world.
Job Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Lead courses on the evolving definition of security, including Food/Water/Energy Security, Environmental Security, Cyber-Social threats, Transnational Organized Crime, and the geopolitics of critical infrastructure.
Curriculum Innovation: Develop a pioneering curriculum that breaks down silos between traditional policy and modern technical/social threats, focusing on cross-disciplinary risk analysis.
Applied Simulation: Facilitate "War Gaming" workshops and table-top exercises that force students to manage complex, multi-actor crises (e.g., a systemic infrastructure failure caused by a coordinated cyber-physical attack).
Research & Scholarship: Engage in high-impact research on emerging non-traditional security (NTS) issues. Publish findings that inform policy-making, organizational resilience, and security management frameworks.
Mentorship: Mentor students for careers in intergovernmental organizations, multinational corporations, policy think tanks, and high-level risk management consultancies.
Capstone Oversight: Guide capstone projects that require students to build comprehensive management frameworks for non-traditional threats, emphasizing resilience, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and strategic agility.
Industry & Policy Engagement: Build networks with security practitioners, policy experts, and humanitarian organizations to ensure the department remains connected to real-world security shifts.
Job Requirements
Education: Master’s degree in International Relations, Security Studies, Political Science, or a related field (a PhD is strongly preferred).
Experience: 3+ years of experience in policy analysis, international security management, risk consultancy, or NGO leadership, combined with prior teaching or training experience.
Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of security management frameworks and risk assessment methodologies.
Familiarity with data-driven modeling of systemic risks.
Strong grasp of the intersection between technology, environment, and geopolitical policy.
Soft Skills:
Systems Thinking: Ability to map out complex, cascading effects of non-traditional threats (e.g., how a climate event affects global trade and local security).
Nuanced Communication: Ability to articulate complex, sensitive security topics to diverse stakeholders, from technical experts to senior political leaders.
Creative Problem Solving: A capacity for "out-of-the-box" thinking, given that non-traditional threats often lack established, "textbook" management protocols.
Intellectual Curiosity: A relentless drive to monitor the global environment for the next emergent security paradigm.
Benefits
Competitive Compensation: Attractive academic salary package with potential for research grants and policy-advisory consulting.
Professional Development: Opportunities to participate in international policy forums, publish original research, and attend premier security conferences.
Collaborative Environment: An interdisciplinary department that bridges the gap between the social sciences, technology, and global policy.
Comprehensive Benefits: Full insurance coverage, academic leave, and retirement benefits in accordance with local labor laws.
Career Growth: Defined pathways to Tenured Professor, Director of Security Research Centers, or high-level Advisor positions.
Lecturer in Non-Traditional Security, Security Management Specialist, Global Risk Faculty, NTS Research Scholar, Resilience & Security Instructor.
Industry Keywords: Non-Traditional Security (NTS), Environmental Security, Critical Infrastructure, Systemic Risk, Geopolitical Resilience, Human Security, Cyber-Social Threats, Crisis Management, Global Governance.
Attributes: Analytical, Systems-focused, Visionary, Adaptable, Articulate, Collaborative.
