We are seeking a detail-oriented and industry-experienced Lecturer in Property Valuation and Management to join our faculty. As the real estate sector evolves with new sustainability standards, digital property management tools, and shifting urban investment patterns, your role is to prepare students to manage, assess, and optimize real estate assets. You will blend rigorous theoretical appraisal methods with the practical realities of property maintenance, tenant relations, and portfolio performance.
Job Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Lead courses in Property Valuation Methods (Sales Comparison, Income Capitalization, Cost Approach), Real Estate Law, Facilities Management, Tenant/Lease Management, and Real Estate Investment Analysis.
Curriculum Innovation: Develop a curriculum that integrates modern challenges, including PropTech (Property Technology) adoption, green building certifications (e.g., LEED/EDGE), and the impact of climate risk on property value.
Applied Lab Facilitation: Manage practical workshops where students use industry-standard software (e.g., ARGUS, Excel-based valuation models) and engage in mock appraisal reports or property management case studies.
Research & Scholarship: Engage in research concerning market trends, valuation accuracy in volatile markets, the economic impact of urban redevelopment, or sustainable property management practices.
Industry & Career Mentorship: Connect students with industry leaders in real estate agencies, valuation firms, and property management companies. Facilitate site visits and internships that give students a direct view of property life-cycles.
Capstone Oversight: Guide capstone projects that require students to perform a professional-grade valuation of a commercial or residential property and propose a comprehensive management strategy to maximize asset ROI.
Departmental Collaboration: Contribute to faculty committees, program accreditation, and departmental efforts to keep the program aligned with industry standards (e.g., RICS, IVSC).
Job Requirements
Education: Master’s degree in Real Estate, Property Management, Valuation, Finance, or a related field (a PhD or professional accreditation such as MRICS is highly preferred).
Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in property valuation (appraisal), real estate brokerage, or facility/property management, combined with prior teaching or professional training experience.
Technical Skills:
Strong command of professional valuation standards (e.g., IVS, USPAP).
Proficiency in financial modeling for real estate, property management software, and database management.
Knowledge of local building regulations, zoning laws, and leasing legislation.
Soft Skills:
Analytical Precision: Ability to teach students to balance quantitative data (market comps, cash flows) with qualitative site-specific factors.
Professional Integrity: A commitment to teaching the ethical standards of professional valuation and property stewardship.
Commercial Awareness: A keen sense of market dynamics and the ability to explain how broader economic shifts impact property values.
Communication: Ability to distill technical appraisal jargon into clear, professional reports and presentations.
