We are seeking a polished, articulate, and highly reliable Box Office Associate to join our guest services and ticketing operations team. In this role, you will be the initial point of contact for our patrons, responsible for executing ticket sales, managing reservations, and processing entries for concerts, theater productions, festivals, and major entertainment events. You will balance a warm, welcoming hospitality approach with a fast-paced, high-accuracy work ethic, navigating specialized ticketing databases while handling financial transactions securely under pressure. Key Responsibilities
Ticketing & Transaction Processing: Greet guests warmly, process walk-up and phone ticket orders accurately using specialized Box Office software, and handle cash, credit card, and mobile payments responsibly.
Will-Call & Digital Check-In: Verify customer identifications, manage the physical and digital will-call guest lists, and troubleshoot any ticket discrepancies, duplicate bookings, or QR code scanning failures swiftly.
Seating & Venue Consultation: Provide clear, enthusiastic guidance to patrons regarding venue layout options, pricing tiers, sightlines, and accessibility options (ADA seating) to maximize sales and guest satisfaction.
Information Concierge Support: Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of current show schedules, running times, age restrictions, cast changes, and venue policies to answer guest inquiries confidently.
Financial Reconciliations & Auditing: Count, verify, and balance the assigned cash drawer meticulously at the start and close of every shift, documenting all sales manifests and reporting discrepancies immediately.
Member & VIP Account Management: Assist premium members, donors, and corporate VIPs with priority bookings, subscription renewals, or promotional discount applications according to strict tier guidelines.
Front-of-House Queue Management: Coordinate with the ushering and security teams to manage ticket lines efficiently during peak pre-show rushes, keeping public entryways organized and safe.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience; coursework or a degree in Arts Administration, Business Management, Communications, or Hospitality is a plus.
Experience: 0–2+ years of experience in box office ticketing, retail cashiering, bank tellering, hotel reception, or high-volume customer service roles.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in operating specialized ticketing software/CRM platforms (e.g., Ticketmaster, Tessitura, Eventbrite, or similar proprietary venue engines).
Solid mathematical skills for executing rapid calculations, managing cash exchange, and auditing shift-end financial reports.
Familiarity with standard digital data security compliance rules regarding the handling of sensitive customer credit card information.
Personal Attributes:
Excellent physical health and patience; comfortable sitting or standing in a compact box office booth workspace and remaining highly focused during long shifts.
An articulate, exceptionally courteous, and diplomatic communicator who can maintain a calm, professional demeanor when handling confused or frustrated patrons.
Highly reliable, early to call times, and self-disciplined, with a strong commitment to punctuality for high-traffic performance windows.
Sharp situational awareness to spot scaling line bottlenecks, processing glitches, or potential ticketing fraudulent activity instantly.
