Lecturer, Department of Management and Security
Job Overview
We are seeking an expert Lecturer in Management and Security to join our faculty at the intersection of organizational leadership and risk mitigation. In a world where digital and physical threats are constantly evolving, you will teach students how to manage operations, personnel, and infrastructure while simultaneously implementing robust security protocols. Your goal is to shape leaders who understand that effective management is inseparable from proactive, comprehensive security strategy.
Job Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Lead courses such as Operational Management, Strategic Risk Management, Information Security Governance, Crisis and Continuity Management, and Leadership in High-Risk Environments.
Curriculum Development: Architect a curriculum that merges traditional management theories (planning, organizing, leading, controlling) with modern security requirements (threat landscape analysis, compliance, incident response, and resilience).
Applied Simulation: Design and manage practical workshops where students navigate simulated management crises—such as data breaches, supply chain disruptions, or organizational restructuring—requiring both managerial skill and technical/policy-based decision-making.
Research & Scholarship: Engage in research on the management of security-focused organizations, the human element of security (insider threat management, security culture), or the impact of security regulations on organizational performance.
Mentorship: Mentor students as they prepare for careers in security management, risk consultancy, or operational leadership, ensuring they understand the legal, ethical, and commercial implications of their decisions.
Capstone Oversight: Guide capstone projects that challenge students to design comprehensive organizational management frameworks that inherently prioritize security and resilience.
Departmental Collaboration: Foster interdisciplinary connections between the School of Business and the Departments of IT/Security to ensure a holistic education.
Job Requirements
Education: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Security Management, Organizational Leadership, or a related field (a PhD or professional certification like CISSP, CISM, or PMP is strongly preferred).
Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in security management, corporate operations, risk management, or leadership within a security-focused industry.
Technical Skills:
Understanding of management frameworks (ISO 9001, COBIT) and security standards (ISO 27001, NIST frameworks).
Familiarity with the legal and regulatory environment governing corporate security and data privacy (GDPR, local data protection laws).
Ability to translate risk assessments into business-ready executive summaries.
Soft Skills:
Translational Ability: Ability to bridge the gap between "security speak" (threats, vulnerabilities) and "management speak" (ROI, business continuity, market reputation).
Decision-Making: A calm, structured approach to leadership, especially during high-stress scenarios.
Ethics & Governance: Strong commitment to promoting ethical leadership and responsible governance in organizational security.
Systems Thinking: Ability to visualize the interconnectedness of organizational goals and the security measures needed to protect them.
Benefits
Competitive Compensation: Attractive academic salary package with potential for research and industry consultancy funding.
Professional Development: Support for industry certifications, executive leadership workshops, and conference attendance (e.g., ASIS, ISACA).
Collaborative Environment: Access to a faculty culture that rewards interdisciplinary innovation and pragmatic, real-world research.
Comprehensive Benefits: Full insurance coverage, academic leave, and retirement benefits in accordance with local labor laws.
Career Growth: Defined pathways toward Tenured Associate Professor, Program Coordinator, or Director of Risk Management Centers.
Lecturer in Management & Security, Risk Management Faculty, Security Operations Instructor, Organizational Resilience Professor, Corporate Security Manager (Education focus).
Industry Keywords: Risk Assessment, Business Continuity, Crisis Management, Security Governance, Strategic Leadership, Incident Response, Compliance, Change Management, Operational Resilience.
Attributes: Analytical, Pragmatic, Decisive, Ethical, Systems-oriented, Articulate.
