Software Engineering Lecturer
Job Overview
We are looking for a passionate and technically proficient Software Engineering Lecturer to join our faculty. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in core computer science and software engineering principles. Your goal is to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry-standard practices, preparing the next generation of developers, architects, and tech leaders for the challenges of a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Job Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Plan and teach comprehensive courses in areas such as Software Architecture, Data Structures & Algorithms, Systems Design, Database Management, and Web/Mobile Development.
Curriculum Development: Design and continuously update course materials, lab exercises, and assignments to incorporate emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends (e.g., Cloud Computing, AI/ML integration, DevSecOps).
Academic Mentorship: Provide guidance to students on capstone projects, academic research, and career planning within the tech industry.
Student Assessment: Develop and administer fair, rigorous assessments (exams, coding projects, peer reviews) to evaluate student competency in both theory and practical application.
Research & Scholarship: Engage in professional development or academic research in software engineering fields, contributing to the academic standing of the institution.
Departmental Collaboration: Work with fellow faculty and industry partners to ensure the curriculum meets accreditation standards and addresses real-world workforce needs.
Practical Laboratory Oversight: Manage and facilitate hands-on coding labs, ensuring students gain experience with modern IDEs, version control systems (e.g., Git), and collaborative development workflows.
Job Requirements
Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (a PhD is highly preferred).
Experience: 3–5+ years of combined experience in software development and/or teaching at a tertiary level.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in at least two major programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript).
Solid grasp of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) models, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and clean code principles.
Familiarity with modern infrastructure, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
Soft Skills:
Communication: Exceptional ability to distill complex technical architecture and abstract concepts into clear, digestible lessons.
Patience & Encouragement: Ability to support students through the frustrations of debugging and iterative problem-solving.
