We are seeking a diligent, efficient, and safety-conscious Food Preparation Worker to support our culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for the foundational prep work required to keep our kitchen running smoothly during service. Whether you are washing and chopping produce, portioning ingredients, or maintaining a clean and sanitized workspace, your contribution is vital to the quality and consistency of our food. Key Responsibilities
Ingredient Preparation: Perform essential prep work including peeling, washing, chopping, slicing, and dicing vegetables, fruits, and proteins according to standardized specifications.
Station Setup & Breakdown: Assist in setting up prep stations before service and cleaning them thoroughly after service, ensuring all kitchen tools and surfaces meet hygiene standards.
Portioning & Storage: Measure, weigh, and package ingredients for recipes, and ensure all prepared items are stored correctly in the refrigerator or freezer using proper labeling and rotation (FIFO) methods.
Kitchen Support: Aid cooks and chefs by preparing specific components of dishes, such as stocks, sauces, or garnishes, under direct supervision.
Sanitation Compliance: Maintain a high level of cleanliness in the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing food preparation surfaces, and following all safety protocols to prevent cross-contamination.
Inventory Assistance: Monitor raw ingredient levels and alert management or the head chef when supplies are low to ensure consistent operational flow.
Team Collaboration: Maintain clear communication with kitchen staff to ensure that prep tasks are completed on time and in alignment with service priorities.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: No formal education required, though a high school diploma or equivalent is a plus. Basic Food Handler’s certification is highly preferred.
Experience: Entry-level position; no prior experience is required, though previous kitchen or food service experience is beneficial.
Technical Skills:
Basic knowledge of knife skills and professional kitchen equipment (blenders, slicers, processors).
Familiarity with food safety, sanitation, and temperature control regulations.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes consistently.
Personal Attributes:
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain quality while performing repetitive tasks.
High level of reliability, punctuality, and ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
Physically capable of standing for long shifts and lifting heavy kitchen supplies as needed.
Positive team player who is willing to learn and adapt to the needs of the kitchen.
